美国技术型前金，新团，今年发行的第一张专辑，还算可以吧，要说技术，那当然比不上DT,Symphony X之类的，至于新意，没怎么听出来，歌词肯定是免不了神话，传奇之类的，vocalist不错，Enchant的主唱，算得上亮点。整体中上吧，我的评分3/5。

对indie类从来不感兴趣的grass最近突然开始“软化”了，我当然是支持咯。

grass的要求是旋律上耳，节奏不要太慢，vocal是男声，所以就选了longwave，下一辑暂定为Eskobar。

除了女主唱的靓嗓和身材，一无可取之处的prog metal乐队，平庸...平庸....a dime a dozen...有些前金乐队虽说有些过于卖弄技巧，显得太过花哨，那到底也可以欣赏一下花枪啊，这算什么？看美女？听美女？性幻想？

甚至连mv都让我觉得有种廉价的性感。既然要卖弄性感就干脆彻底一点，像布兰妮那样（婚前，现在就免了），俗也要俗得让人心跳加速，流鼻血好不好，至少有点看头，这样不尴不尬的真的让人很难受喛。

顺便回忆一下frontwoman 的金属乐队，night wish,within temptation,epica,after forever,Stream Of Passion，Edenbridge...好像能记住的就这些了，eoe...嗯，估计记不住。

如果你喜欢Sigur Ros，slowdive，hammock，epic45之类的音乐，那么可以试试july skies。

“...70年代记忆的碎片...废弃的机场...无尽的童年夏日...穿过树叶斑斑点点的阳光...褪色的童真...灰色的英伦雨天...失踪的飞行员...记忆里一个模糊的微笑...”（选译自官网）这就是july skies的音乐。

july skies一直都是我的爱团，不过很少跟人提起，也许跟音乐风格有关-敏感，细腻，柔软，易碎，怀旧，就像一张藏着往事的发黄照片，浪漫中散发着淡淡的伤感。

好像有点太感性了哈，说点实际的。july skies是Antony Harding的project（有点想起了album leaf和this mortal coil），明显能从他的音乐中听出4AD昔日的残影，一些曲目和早期的slowdive颇有相似之处。

忧郁的基调，空灵，液态的acoustic guitar，细腻的guitar patterns，散落的没有重量的人声碎片，缩小版flying saucer attack式的feedback，萦绕轻叠的回响，haunting soundscapes...有人说july skies的音乐完全可以做电影的soundtracks，其实我觉得有点画蛇添足，这么有画面感的音乐本身就是一部声音的电影了。

july skies最好的一张专辑是《the English cold》，不过我朋友只要06的，所以我就不用传了。

ps：今天第一次上july skies的官网，发现Antony Harding居然也是FSA的粉丝，惊喜中。。。

音乐就和乐队（和album leaf一样也是一个人的乐队，汗）的名字一样，宁和，就像初夏的晨风，轻暖，微醺，又透着些许活泼。。。虽然和windermere的音乐风格不怎么相似，但给人的感觉却一样的舒服。

贴得少但是一出手总是好货，这张专辑就是在他那里找到的。寻找好的新乐队的过程有点像淘金，既繁琐又烦人，尤其是独立类的。。。最省事的做法就是把这个烦人的过程将给一两个既有品味又有耐性的人，呵呵。Prog metal我找到了一个，独立类有两个，如果以后改听极端应该也有三个，幸运ing

我的简评：

既不同于噪音式的catherine wheel，也不同于艺术化的slowdive，一支比较有indie rock特色的shoegaze乐队。

vocal是我喜欢的类型，略带硬硬的冷边。低吟的吉它漫不经心的挑逗，在逐渐加重的鼓点中上扬，飚升，又急速下沉，挥霍自如，干净利落。合成器充满催眠效果的含混回响，和这种比较硬朗，传统摇滚式的乐器演绎形成了一种有趣的对比，有层次感又不会让人觉得突兀。稍嫌不足的是编曲，好像本该继续深入,develop的地方就突然跳到下一个verse了，有点意尤未尽。不过总的来说已经不错了，稀饭。。。

他的点评："It's got a traditional root rock backbone to it, but stretched out to more prolific proportions. The dire, urgent instrumentation will also churn your butter. "
